Why this site exists
When I graduated with my degree in Networking and Cybersecurity, I noticed something: the online spaces I loved most — anime forums, Kdrama fan communities, streaming sites — were riddled with the exact threats I’d been studying. Phishing links disguised as fan sites. Free VPNs are selling your data. Malware-serving ads on every unofficial streaming page.
Nobody was explaining this clearly to fans. The security guides were too technical. The streaming guides were too naive about the risks. I built Otaku Cyber to bridge that gap — to write the security advice I wished existed when I was watching my first drama through a sketchy site.
About the author
I hold a BSc in Networking and Cybersecurity and work in the field professionally. Outside of work, I watch anime and K-dramas obsessively. I started this site because I kept explaining the same things to friends — why that free VPN was dangerous, how to tell if a streaming site is safe. Eventually, it made sense to write it all down.
